It's a certainty that if I apply for a position the employer will want a reference check done with questions specific to the role, so my referees would be disturbed twice - I decline to do that to them, they're busy people and I prefer to disturb them as little as possible. I guess I will remain unrated – there is no way I will provide referee names to an organisation until we’re at the reference-checking stage of a position application.
