Contracting growth in HR

Home / News / Contracting growth in HR

According to our most recent poll, the HR profession is expected to have the largest growth in the contracting market over the next five years.

Traditionally, IT and Accounting have had the largest number of contracting professionals, but these two groups were surpassed by HR, where the largest expected growth was reported.

We have noticed a move towards contracting in the HR profession over the past 9 months.  Since March 2009 there has been a massive 664% increase in the number of registered HR contractors on Crackerjacks.

With the continuation of the economic downturn, organisations have been restructuring to ‘lean-up’ and stay in business. HR professionals have been affected by this situation in an interesting way.  A number of permanent HR staff members have faced redundancy as businesses lower staffing overheads.

But with more HR professionals entering the job market, the option to go contracting has been popular.  Because of the expertise HR contractors can offer organisations who are re-structuring, a market has opened for HR project and consulting work.

It remains largely unseen whether this will continue into the future, but according to our poll, the future is looking bright for HR contractors.
