Frequently Asked Questions
Have you got a question or need some help? Why not check out our frequently asked questions for new Agencies and existing Agencies. If you still can’t find the answer to your question, why not get in touch with us.
For new agencies:
- Will my clients know that Crackerjacks is involved in the recruiting process?
The short answer is no. The Career Profiles you generate from Crackerjacks will display your logo and company contact details. The candidate will be aware that the job is being sourced through Crackerjacks - because they will be contracted through the system. At the end of the contract, the Line Manager (who the contractor reported to), will be sent a feedback form to assess how well the contractor performed. While this form is hosted on the Crackerjacks site, it will not be branded.
- How do the Access pricing plans work?
You assess how many jobs you are likely to recruit each month and then select the best plan. Access plans are for a minimum of 6 months and fees are invoiced on a monthly basis. This is a similar payment method as most job boards use - you pay for the job posting up-front and there are no extra associated costs. Click here for our Agency pricing page.
- How do candidates become aware of my listed jobs?
By searching for jobs from their accounts, candidates can set up Job-Alerts. By saving their job searches, they are notified by email if a similar job is posted on Crackerjacks. This gives them the option to apply for it, or refer it on to a friend who is more suitable. Candidates will also become aware of jobs when you request their profiles (after finding them in a search). They will receive an email and a text notification to inform them on your job.
- How many contractors are currently registered on Crackerjacks?
There are currently thousands of contractors registered on Crackerjacks. The database has been increasing in candidate numbers since our launch in 2008, and consistently grows month on month.

This includes; Accounting, Advertising/Media, Admin/Customer Service, Banking/Finance, Construction, Education, Engineering, Export, General Management, Health, Hospitality, HR, Knowledge Management, Legal, Management Consulting, Manufacturing, marketing/PR, Retail, Sales, Supply/logistics/Operations.

For existing agencies:
- What should I do if a contractor hasn’t responded to a profile request within two days?
Let us know - either drop us a line on business@crackerjacks.co.nz or call us on (09) 914 8540 ext. 2 and we will personally follow up the contractor to get some feedback, so you can continue short-listing candidates.
- Having problems finding the right contractor from a search?
Some tips for searching; When using an advanced search, the key skills section acts as a text-filter. So only enter relevant skills, separated by commas (i.e. Account management, MS Word). It is also useful to use a range of Role Functions when searching, because a contractor who has relevant experience, may have coded themselves differently to what you would expect. Try searching under different experience levels too (I.e. a lot of IT contractors will code themselves as being Experienced, as opposed to a Functional/Technical specialist. These different techniques should help you find a wider pool of suitable contractors - which is always a good thing!
- Why do jobs lock after 7 days of un-activity?
We have an automated scheduler that is designed to keep you on top of all your recruitment projects. If there is no activity on a job posting - this will lock after 7 days. The job owner will receive an email notifying them of this - along with the option to unlock the job and continue working on it. A job can be unlocked multiple times - because we know some recruitment projects can take longer than expected!
- How do I set up a Watch-list (talent pool) of contractors?
If you happen to come across a contractor who looks interesting, or potentially suitable for a future role you’ve got coming up, you can add them to your watch-list. When you conduct a search and successfully request their profile - simply select the button "Add to Watchlist" and their information will be stored on your Crackerjacks account.
- How do I get notified if candidates of interest join Crackerjacks?
Simply set up a talent alert - follow this link for instructions.
- How can I tell if a candidate is available?
Contractors have a calendar function, which reflects their availability for work. When you view a contractor’s details from a search this is displayed so you can see whether they are available for work.
- Can I post non-contract jobs on Crackerjacks?
While Crackerjacks are contracting specialists, we still permit other types of jobs to be posted. So if you have a permanent, a fixed term employee or temp role you would like to post, this is completely fine. Candidates will actually indicate on their accounts as to whether they would like to work on contract or permanent (or both). This information is available for you to see once you view their details after finding them in a search.
- What should I do if there isn’t enough information on a person’s profile to decide whether to request their profile?
Sometimes contractors don’t put a heck of a lot of information into their profiles, which can make it hard to assess whether they are suited to a job. So if you need some help in identifying whether they could be suitable, simply let us know! Contact us on business@crackerjacks.co.nz or (09) 914 8540 ext 450 and we can follow up with contractors of interest to get you more information.
- How do I close a job?
Jobs will close automatically when you engage a contractor. Alternatively, when a job automatically locks you can opt to close the job, and all associated contractors with this job will be automatically notified.
